Role of Fam134b-driven endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-phagy in sarcopenia

The project “Role of Fam134b-driven endoplasmic reticulum (ER)-phagy in sarcopenia” from the field of life sciences investigates a hypothesis linking sarcopenia – the loss of muscle mass and function, leading to loss of ambulation in elderlies – and an increased expression of Fam134b gene. The latter serves a critical role in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER), which is essential for muscle function. The goal of the project is to conduct several tests to bolster the hypothesis and establish Fam134b as a potential target to treat sarcopenia. The project is led by the Université de Strasbourg and is carried out in cooperation with the University of Basel. Eucor – The European Campus supports the consortium with the Seed Money funding instrument in the funding line “Research and Innovation”.
