The University Centre for Journalism Education (CUEJ – University of Strasbourg), together with the Frankreich-Zentrum of the University of Freiburg, is offering an integrated master’s degree in journalism as part of a Franco-German course. At the end of the training, the students obtain a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Strasbourg and a Master of Arts degree from the Frankreich-Zentrum of the University of Freiburg. Students stay during the first year of study in Freiburg and the second in Strasbourg. In the first year, they learn basic journalistic skills and gain general knowledge of the news media. In the second year, they specialise in a technique (print and multimedia, radio and multimedia, television).

The objective of the course is to train a generation of journalists likely to provide journalistic information especially about the future of Germany, France, Franco-German bilateral relations and the roles of Germany and France in Europe. Students gain the knowledge and tools to understand these issues through the news. They also develop a capacity to anticipate the Franco-German news.
