The master’s is located at the crossroads between polymer sciences and micro-, bio-, nano- and plastics technology and offers a binational training between the Faculty of Physics and Engineering of the University of Strasbourg and the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Freiburg.

The course is divided into three parts: the first two semesters aim to convey the basics of macromolecular chemistry, macromolecular material science, polymer physics and technology as well as industrial polymer science. The third semester is devoted to specialisation in the framework of research and research internships leading to thesis dissertation, written in the fourth semester.

Students spend the first semester at the University of Strasbourg and the second semester at the University of Freiburg. For the third and fourth semesters, it is possible to choose between the two universities.

The Master’s degree is intended for students already holding a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, physics or mechanics. This course (double degree) can be followed by a doctorate with double supervision (cotutelle) between a laboratory of the University of Strasbourg and a laboratory of the University of Freiburg.
